Filmmaker to direct biopic on Iranian diplomat kidnapped by Israel
“I have recently completed the screenplay of the film entitled ‘Unfinished Childhood’, which will depict a long part of the life story of Motevasselian until he was kidnapped,” Mahdavian told the Persian service of MNA on Sunday.

He has written the screenplay based on two years of research and interviews with some people close to him.

The film will be shot at the Dokuheh Garrison in the southwestern Iranian town of Andimeshk and the Kordestan region, where he served as a commander during the early years of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

Mahdavian is the director of “The Last Days of Winter”, a docudrama series based on the life story of the 27-year-old Iranian commander Gholamhossein Afshordi, who was killed during the Iran-Iraq war.

Iranian photojournalist Kazem Akhavan and Motevasselian and two other Iranian diplomats, Mohsen Musavi and Taqi Rastegar-Moqaddam, were kidnapped by Israelis in 1982 in Lebanon.

In 2010, Iranian documentarian Siavash Sarmadi directed “Searching for Reality”, which queried the fate of these individuals.
